Andre William Castagneto was born November 12, 1997 in Nampa, Idaho to Cory Lloyd and Honorina (Nono) Carvalho Castagneto. He passed away into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on Monday July 26, 2021 in Murray, Utah surrounded by family and friends from complications from a swimming accident at the young age of 23. Andre's formative years were spent in Nampa with frequent trips to his maternal grandparents in Portugal and France. These visits allowed him to speak his mother's native Portuguese. Andre cherished his heritage and treasured his mother's tender care. Andre loved the Savior and focused his life on Him. He eagerly anticipated serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years and greatly loved those he met and taught in the Brazil Florianopolis Mission from October 2016 until October 2018. He made lifetime bonds with his Brazilian friends and mission companions, which was a source of so much joy. After graduating from Columbia High School in 2016 and returning from Brazil he continued his education at BYU Idaho in Rexburg, and then went on to BYU Provo where he was in the Mechanical Engineering program. Andre was a people person and loved everyone he met and knew. He spent a lifetime cultivating friendships. From a young age, making friends was second nature to him. He knew no strangers. Including others and being a true friend were his trademarks. Andre sensed the needs of others and was intuitive and genuine in caring for them. These traits continued into his missionary service and beyond. All of this he did with a big smile, loads of youthful energy, and a sense of humor. He loved Nampa, and all things Idaho, and was a very patriotic American, donating to various veteran causes. He enjoyed everything and anything outdoors. From hiking hidden canyons in the Owyhees, to summiting many of Idaho and Utah's tallest peaks, he would join you at the drop of a hat. Fishing, hunting, camping and exploring back roads with his buddies made him so happy. He spent every spare minute he could studying maps, planning adventures and experiencing those activities with his mom, dad and many like-minded friends (and maybe even some not so like-minded friends who never went a second time, lol). His Dad was the best navigator, co-pilot, and compadre that he could ever hope for. The two of them absolutely loved snowmobiling together. And during spring and summer, you would find them rafting and kayaking every fork of the Payette River. Ever curious about almost everything in life there was never enough time to fit it all in. Andre was the oldest of all the cousins and they adored him. He made a special effort to stay connected with them weekly. He was the ultimate tease and storyteller. Andre was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Marcolino Carvalho of Portugal and his great-grandparents: William and Beverly Castagneto, Allen and Billie Noble, and Arthur Baltzor. He is survived by his parents Cory and Honorina (Nono); his maternal grandmother Maria Carvalho of Portugal; his uncles Nelson Carvalho (Emmanelle: Nathan, Laura) and Francisco Carvalho both of France; his paternal grandparents Craig and Linda Castagneto of Nampa; great-grandmother Vera Baltzor of Nampa; and many aunts, uncles and dear cousins: Carrie Olson (John: Benjamin, William, Charlotte, Thomas), Kristie Arnold (Harrison, Hannah), Kimberly Olson (Matt: Graham, Claire), Peter Castagneto (Andrea: Wyatt, Jacob, Marlie), Andrew Castagneto (Diana: Christian, Olivia, Adelaide, Louis, Luca). Also surviving Andre is his sweetheart Tyler Schroeder, presently serving in the Lisbon, Portugal Mission. Cory and Nono would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this trying time. The comfort, peace and love has truly been felt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 7, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3904 East Greenhurst Road in Nampa. A "Memory Lane Walk-through" will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and also following the service.
