Leslie "Les" Allen Roundy

Leslie (Les) Allen Roundy, passed away peacefully at the St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise at the age of 72. His brothers and sisters appreciate the excellent care and concern he received during his hospitalization. Les was born in Boise on November 11, 1946 to Louis Gordon and Frances Marie Roundy. He was the oldest child with six siblings. He enjoyed school and played the cornet, and marched in the band. He graduated from Borah High School and Boise State. He learned to work hard by delivering newspapers. He had the largest walking newspaper route in Boise with over 200 houses. He later split the route in two after graduating from high school, so his younger brothers could continue making deliveries. The Roundy family continued to deliver papers with other family members for more than 10 years. Les liked to fish and hunt and shared his knowledge with his younger brothers. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and spending the money he earned from the paper route and other jobs. He joined the Navy after graduating from Borah High, and was schooled and trained to be a Hospital Corpsman. With his medical training he was able to secure a job at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Boise as a Medical Technologist, while he attended Boise State and graduated with a degree in Environmental Science. He retired with over 38 years at the VAMC. He also retired from the Navy/Air Guard Reserves with over 30 years. Federal service has always been important to Les, he has served his country and his veteran community well. Les was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and graduated from youth seminary and enjoyed church sports and scouting programs and activities. Les enjoyed motorcycles and some of the favorite cars that he owned were: 1969 RoadRunner, 1968 and 2007 Corvettes and a Nissan 350Z. He also really enjoyed his 2006 Dodge Cummins dually. All his life he has enjoyed a variety of music and always had the latest in sound systems. He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting. He collected records, cds, dvds and also loved to read and increase his knowledge, so he had a variety of books in his library. Les was preceded in death by his parents Louis Gordon and Frances Marie Roundy; his nephew Shadrach Roundy; and his great-nephew Allan James Oney. He is survived by Ellen (Cleve) Wardle, Carlos (Deb) Roundy, Rex (Adell) Roundy, Roger (Debrah) Roundy, Frank Roundy and Joyce (John) Kuiken. He has 12 nephews and 12 nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Terrace Lawn Memorial Park located at 4225 E Fairview Ave in Boise, Idaho.
