J Refugio Sanchez Martinez, 61, of Kuna died Friday, August 24, 2018 due to a farming accident. Refugio was born July 5, 1957 to Manuel de Jesus Martinez Guzman and Maria de Los Angeles Sanchez Espinoza Martinez in Pablado de Vindas, Valpauaiso, Zacatacaz, Mexico. He was the 5th of 11 children. He grew up in Mexico and in the USA. He married Johnna Lian in Gooding, ID on April 4, 1985. When Johnna was 12 years old, Refugio told Johnna's mother that he was going to marry Johnna one day. Nine years later they became husband and wife. Their family resided in Kuna where Refugio worked on the farms. They have five children and were grandparents to 10 grandchildren. Refugio was a man who lived for his family, his fields, and his friends. He was selfless, kind hearted, loving and caring. If there was ever an angel that walked on earth it was him. Refugio attended St. Paul's Catholic Church. One of his proudest moments was becoming a U.S. Citizen in 1992. Refugio was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Teresa Martinez. He is survived by his wife Johnna; his children: Celena Knox, Juan (Becca Waits) Martinez, Maria (Justin) Simon, Lorena (Christian) Esparza-Garcia, Leroy Martinez; and many extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 31, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa.
