Tamara "Tami" Ann Squires

On January 9, 2021 our beloved Mother was called home to join her Sweetheart in the arms of Jesus. Tamara (Tami) Ann Squires was born on October 16, 1957 in an Army hospital at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. She is the first of eight children born to David and Ann Tomlinson. After David's military service, the Tomlinson's moved to Melba, Idaho. By the time Tami was five, she was joined by three siblings and her family had moved to Nampa where they welcomed the rest of her siblings. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1975. Tami briefly attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho before meeting Vaughn Squires in the summer of 1980. They were Sealed for Time and Eternity in the Salt Lake Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 12, 1980. They moved to Provo, Utah and rejoiced in the arrival of their daughter, Rachel. They returned to the Nampa Area where they welcomed their sons Andrew, Craig and Brady. The Squires family lived in Kuna and Blackfoot for a few years before finally settling in Nampa where Tami raised her children and spent many years working in the Nampa Public Schools enjoying the company of the students in the Cafeteria. She spent many years following her children's sports teams, high school bands and youth groups all across Idaho and proudly smiled and applauded their accomplishments and supported them as they stumbled and learned. She was burdened with watching as her eternal companion battled and passed away of cancer in 2012. Her heart was and is eternally for her husband Vaughn Squires. After his passing she found love and meaning in the arrival of her seven grandchildren. She loved to hold them, babysit them, and laugh as their personalities manifested. She lived for her grandchildren and children to come and visit her and fulfill her role as Mother. Tami was always one to serve and give a helping hand. If the Squires were at any event, you could always find Tami cooking in the kitchen, the last one there cleaning, or running around trying to make everything go off without a problem. She avoided any attention for her efforts and was never one to worry about herself when others needed help. Tami was a fierce believer in Jesus Christ, and she devoted her life to following her Savior to the people she was meant to help. Even though she was never one to push her presence on another, she always exemplified Christlike attributes by loving and serving all around her. She was often found at home reading her scriptures or listening to calming spiritual music. Her home was full of pictures of Jesus and family which exemplified her priorities in life. Tami is survived by her mother Ann Tomlinson of Nampa; her children: Rachel (Tyson) Boyter of Richfield, Utah; Andrew (Stephanie) Squires of Middleton, Idaho; Craig (Brianne) Squires of Nampa, Idaho and Brady (Rebecca) Squires of Syracuse, Utah. She had seven beautiful grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: John (Susan) Tomlinson of Medford, Oregon; Shauna (Scott) Baker of Nampa, Idaho; Rodney (Bonnie) Tomlinson of Meridian, Idaho; Jenifer (Marty) Dixon of Nampa, Idaho; Peggy (Mark) Morley of Lehi, Utah; Benjamin (Christy) Tomlinson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Torrey (Melissa) Tomlinson of Maple Valley, Washington .A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 927 Ruth Lane in Nampa. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 16 at the Melba Cemetery, 7205 Baseline Road in Melba. Arrangements are by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300
