Lyonal Dwain Mooso
August 27, 1934 – November 22, 2025
Lyonal Dwain Mooso passed away peacefully at his home with Sharon, his sweetheart and eternal companion of 71 years, by his side.
He was born on August 27, 1934, to Walter Lyonal and Ida Mooso in Acequia, Idaho, and was the oldest of their five children. Dad attended grade school in Declo and Burley, graduating from Burley High School. He later earned a Business Certificate from the Alexander Hamilton Institute. During his high school years, he played the tuba in the band and participated in football, though he eventually chose to leave football to pursue gainful employment.
Dad met the love of his life on a blind date and later married Sharon Muir for time and eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on June 1, 1954.
Business was one of his strengths from very early in life. He began with a paper route for the Twin Falls Times News, eventually expanding it to become the largest route in the valley. Afterward, he went to work in a potato warehouse for Simplot, taking on multiple responsibilities. He proved his strong work ethic over the next 27 years with Simplot in Rupert, Burley, Nebraska, and finally in Mountain Home. After leaving Simplot, he opened his own business, Farm Home & Ranch Agency, while also running a New York Life & Health agency, from which he retired 25 years later.
Community service was always important to Dad. He served as the Fire Chief in the village of Heyburn and was able to secure the first fire engine for that community. He also spent 12 years serving in various capacities on the Mountain Home School Board.
Dad was well known for his prolific gardens, his creative yard creatures, and his beautiful woodworking skills. Many have been the grateful recipients of his projects over the years. He also grew amazing geraniums, nurturing more than 60 plants in his greenhouse with tender loving care until he could move them to the backyard each summer.
Church service was very important to Dad. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various callings. While living in Nebraska and serving as Branch President, he spearheaded projects to raise funds for the purchase of land and the building of the first meetinghouse for their branch. He loved serving and teaching his sons the value of hard work and the importance of a job well done.
Dwain and Sharon were sealed together on June 1, 1954, in the Logan Utah Temple. They were later blessed with four sons—Galen, Wade, Bret, and Darin. Dad was very proud of each of his sons and loved spending time with them.
Mom and Dad lived in Mountain Home for 34 years and then in Caldwell for 21 years.
Dwain is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Muir Mooso; his four sons, Galen (Sandy) Mooso, Wade (Kathy) Mooso, Bret (Karrie Jo) Mooso, and Darin (Kyla) Mooso; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and his sisters Peggy Beck, Diane Widmier, and Kathy (Don) Mooso.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lyonal and Ida Mooso; his brother, Don Mooso; and his sister, Marie Crawforth.
The family would like to thank Journeys Hospice for the years of tender, loving care rendered to Dad.
Funeral services will be held under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Home.
