Life & Legacy
Gordon Lee Hansen, 83, passed away suddenly of natural causes on November 22, 2025, at his farm outside of New Plymouth, Idaho, doing what he loved—tending his horse.
Born on January 15, 1942, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho, Gordon was the third of four sons born to Charles Earl and Alta Lucille (Lingel) Hansen. He spent his childhood in the Treasure Valley, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors, horses, and farming.
Career & Character
For 32 years, Gordon worked as a surveyor for the Idaho Transportation Department, where his attention to detail and commitment to quality left a lasting mark on countless infrastructure projects across the region. Among his many contributions were the Flying Y, the I-184 connector, and the Cole Road Interchange—all essential to the Treasure Valley’s growth and modernization.
Gordon was known for his strong work ethic, precision, and pride in every project he undertook. His colleagues respected him not only for his skill but also for his integrity and dedication to doing the job right.
Family & Faith
On March 30, 1963, Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Merita Diane Dougal. Their marriage, spanning 62 years, was a partnership grounded in love, faith, and mutual devotion. Together they raised four children—Kevin, Cheryl, Jeff (Kelley), and Angela (Gary) Glassing—and built a family rooted in honesty, faith, and hard work.
Gordon was a man who led by example. He taught his children the importance of treating others with respect and kindness, keeping one’s word, and taking pride in one’s work.
A lifelong farmer at heart, Gordon found peace and joy in the rhythm of the land—caring for his crops, cattle, and horses with the same dedication he brought to every area of his life. He delighted in simple pleasures: family camping trips, working outdoors, and sharing a bowl of ice cream after a long day’s work.
Legacy of Integrity
Those who knew Gordon—whether through friendship, work, or business—knew him as a man of his word. His handshake was his contract, and his honesty, humility, and loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Gordon’s legacy lives on through his example: a life of quiet strength, steadfast faith, and unwavering love for his family and the land.
