Life & Legacy
Norman Shane Alder, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Melba, Idaho, on November 19, 2025, after courageously battling cancer for three and a half years. He was 52 years old.

Born on September 3, 1973, in Nampa, Idaho, to Norman Craig Alder and Kathryn Etta Rosier Alder, Shane was the second of six children and was raised in Melba—a place that shaped his faith, work ethic, and love for the land. At just 13 years old, Shane earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an early reflection of his drive, character, and quiet determination.

Education & Marriage
A proud graduate of Melba High School, Shane continued his education at Utah State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. While attending USU, he met the love of his life, Becky, at a church gathering. The two were sealed for time and all eternity on November 7, 1998, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Together, Shane and Becky built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, family, and hard work.

Faith & Service
Shane’s testimony of Jesus Christ guided every aspect of his life. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dallas, Texas, where he touched many lives through his humility and compassion.

In his home ward, he served in numerous callings—including as first counselor in the Warren Spur Ward bishopric at the time of his passing. His gentle leadership and selfless service blessed his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Shane also dedicated time to his community as a board member of the Farm Bureau, advocating for local agriculture and rural families. His love for farming wasn’t just a profession—it was a calling.

Passions & Personality
Shane was happiest outdoors—working the land, tending to his cattle, flying, hunting, or spending time with family. He had a passion for music, often singing in men’s church groups and occasionally playing the piano or guitar.

Just before his second cancer diagnosis, Shane achieved one of his dreams—earning his pilot’s license.

Known for his quick wit, easy laughter, and ever-present smile, Shane could bring light to any room. He had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and at peace. His humility, humor, and endless patience made him a trusted friend and a deeply loved member of the Melba community.
