Life & Legacy
Hazel Futch Thompson passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 66. Her life was one of grace, kindness, and quiet strength—a life devoted to her family, her work, and to serving others with compassion and integrity.

Born on October 7, 1959, in Venice, Florida, to Arthur and Margaret Futch, Hazel was the middle of five children. At age six, her family moved to Moscow, Idaho, where she spent her childhood surrounded by family and the beauty of the Northwest.

Education & Career
A bright and diligent student, Hazel graduated from Moscow High School in 1977 and went on to attend Links School of Business in Boise, earning her associate degree.

Shortly after graduation, Hazel began her lifelong career in funeral service administration—a profession that perfectly matched her gentle spirit and gift for helping others in times of grief. She joined Cloverdale Funeral Home, where she faithfully served families for 38 years before accepting the position of Executive Administrator at Summers Funeral Home in 2017. Hazel was deeply respected by colleagues and families alike for her professionalism, warmth, and genuine compassion.

Family & Character
In the autumn of 1979, Hazel met the love of her life, Jon Thompson. After three years of courtship, they were married on September 4, 1982, beginning a marriage built on love, faith, and partnership. Together they raised four children: Erin, Kile, Ashby, and Dilynn, who were the light of her life.

Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose calm presence and steady optimism touched everyone she knew. She had a rare gift for finding the good in every person and situation, often diffusing tension with her soothing voice and gentle humor.

Her greatest joy was her family—gathering around the table, celebrating milestones, and simply spending time together. She also cherished her grandchildren, who brought endless smiles and laughter to her life.

Hazel is survived by her beloved husband, Jon Thompson; her children Erin (Daniel) Waller, Kile (Makenna) Thompson, Ashby (Ryan) Zimmerman, and Dilynn (Harrison) Tanner; and her cherished grandchildren Chase Larsen, Gwendelyn Waller, Lilli and Bailee Thompson, Clayton and Harper Tanner, and Warren and Wyatt Zimmerman.
