Life & Legacy
Johnny Clayton Everett passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, following a full and meaningful life devoted to family, country, service, golf, and faith.

Born in the backwoods of Harlan County, Kentucky, Johnny grew up a true country boy—barefoot, adventurous, and free—roaming the hills, fishing, and picking wild fruit. From those humble beginnings, he built a life defined by hard work, love, and devotion.

Service to Country
At just 17 years old, Johnny enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving three years before continuing his distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, where he served until retiring in 1973.

His military journey took him—and later his family—across the globe with assignments in Wyoming, England, New Mexico, California, Thailand, Texas, Florida, Libya, Montana, Iceland, and New York. His life of service left an indelible mark of dedication and courage.

Love & Family
Only seven days after meeting, Johnny secretly proposed to the love of his life, Betty Buffaloe, his forever sweetheart. They married on June 16, 1955, in Pocatello, Idaho, and were later sealed for eternity in the Boise Idaho Temple on May 5, 2007.

Johnny often said his greatest accomplishment was his 70-year marriage to Betty. Their love story was one of unwavering loyalty and shared joy—a true partnership built on faith, laughter, and friendship.

Together, they raised their family with the same principles that guided Johnny’s life: love for God, dedication to hard work, and compassion for others.

Career & Service
After retiring from the Air Force, Johnny settled in Boise, Idaho, where he founded Everett Heating & Air Conditioning in 1991. For more than 20 years, he served Treasure Valley families and businesses with honesty and care.

Known for his integrity and work ethic, Johnny was the kind of man who would make a house call in the middle of the night to ensure a family had heat. Even after retirement, he continued helping neighbors and friends whenever he could—never asking for anything in return.

Passions & Achievements
Johnny’s greatest pastime was golf, and he was a familiar face at courses throughout Idaho and beyond. His accomplishments included:

  • 8x Eagle Hills Club Champion
  • 2x Eagle Hills Golfer of the Year
  • Mountain Home Air Force Base Club Champion
  • Super Senior Club Champion at Centennial Golf Course
  • Idaho Seniors Golf Association Champion and Super Senior Champion
  • Tournament victories in Libya and Iceland

He played multiple times a week, often with close friends, right up until days before his passing.

Outside of golf, Johnny loved barbecuing, playing cards and chess, boating and fishing, taking RV trips, pulling pranks, and napping in his favorite chair. His sense of humor and generous heart made him the center of every gathering.

Faith & Family
Johnny was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings and lived his faith through quiet acts of kindness.

He is survived by his wife and eternal companion, Betty Everett; his children Cindy Everett, Cheri Hubler, and Matt Everett; his grandchildren Amanda Redd, Randy Potts, Lexi Peterson, and Cameron Hubler; and his great-grandchildren Calvi Durieux-Redd, Ruby Redd, August Everett Redd, and Luke Peterson.

He is also survived by his sister Mona Jo Napier and his loyal dog, Bodie.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Stella Everett; stepfather Emmitt Napier; and siblings Gertrude Nolan, Mary Ruth Fields, Danny Everett, Joyce Blanton, Jerry Everett, and Emmitt Napier Jr.
